Josh Allen
Queen's Computer Engineering Student
Hey I'm Josh Allen, not the Buffalo Bills quarterback, just your friendly neighborhood coder.
Work | Projects | Clubs
Throughout my time at Queen's I've had some incredible opportunities through summer co-ops, school clubs, hackathons, and side projects. I've been able to hone my skills as a developer and branch out into new disruptive fields in tech. Here's some of my favourites:
Hack The North 2022
I paired up with my best friend, Ivan Lange, to create EVm, a network that enables electric vehicle owners to rent their charging stations, when they aren't needed, through trustless micropayments on the Ethereum blockchain. EVm was awarded EthGlobal's 1st place Ethereum Infinite Garden prize!
Skills Used
React
Hardhat
Solidity
Langtree Controls
Between 2 summer co-ops at Langtree, I was able to gain invaluable experience working under talented engineers in the automation and control systems industry. This summer, I migrated a manufacturing plant to a new SCADA system by remaking HMI graphics, testing PLC programs, and developing tag databases for legacy control systems.
Skills Used
HMI Design (WonderWare)
C# and .NET scripts
Excel
Queen's Brainwaves
As the Web Dev lead I created a web app to visualize and manipulate EEG data recorded by the team. The first prototype allows the user to upload EEG data from CSV files and view the time and frequency plots. This year I am continuing to build new features such as live plotting and brain heatmaps!
